Change 4 Life Champions promote healthy and active lifestyle

Over 65 Key Stage 2 children from 18 schools across Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover took part in today’s Change 4 Life Champions Conference.

It was the second of our two Change 4 Life Conferences this academic year and was held in collaboration with the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire School Sport Partnerships.

The event began with an introduction from Change 4 Life Athlete Mentor and former Team GB Volleyball captain, Ben Pipes.  Continue reading

Healthy living on the menu at Change 4 Life Conference

Over 100 Key Stage 2 pupils from 26 schools across Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover took part in today’s Change 4 Life Champions Conference.

The event began with an introduction from Change 4 Life Athlete Mentor and former Team GB Volleyball captain, Ben Pipes.

The children then split into groups and took part in a number of Change 4 Life Champions modules to learn about Change 4 Life and how to deliver Change 4 Life Clubs.  Continue reading

Olympian back in Chesterfield for IMPACT Day

Olympian and former Team GB Volleyball captain, Ben Pipes, was back in Chesterfield today for another IMPACT session, this time at Holme Hall Primary School.

The jam-packed day, with sessions tailored to each year group, focused on inspiring a new generation of students to be the best they can be and seize the opportunities that come their way. By drawing on his own experiences as a top level athlete, Pipes was able to relate to the same philosophies expressed by the school.  Continue reading

First Peer Leader Conference a great success

The Chesterfield School Sport Partnership extended its leadership programme today by introducing a Peer Leader Conference for Young Ambassadors for the first time.

The all-day event, utilising guidelines from the Youth Sport Trust, was designed to give Bronze Young Ambassadors in primary schools the skills to mentor other leaders and help each other. Around 35 leaders from seven schools made the trip to Clowne Sports Centre for the inaugural conference.  Continue reading

Olympian makes a big IMPACT at Poolsbrook Primary

Former British Volleyball captain Ben Pipes led his first IMPACT day at Poolsbrook Primary school today, inspiring the students to get involved with sport and work as a team.

A Sky ‘Living for Sport’ mentor, Pipes uses his experiences as an athlete to motivate and inspire young students. Opening the whole school assembly by admitting he was far from a fine sportsman in his youth, the volleyball champ encouraged the Poolsbrook pupils to take any opportunities that arose to find what they enjoy.
