Springwell and Hasland made it through to the Chesterfield district Key Stage 3 Girls’ Badminton finals day after finishing in the top two of today’s main qualifier.
They were joined by two teams from Brookfield Community School, who progressed from the other qualifier after the competition were forced to pull out.
Eight teams from four schools descended on Springwell Community College for the hotly contested qualifier. Three traveled from Hasland Hall Community School, there were two each from Springwell and Netherthorpe School, as well as one from Whittington Green School.
Split into two groups it was the in-form teams from the hosts and Hasland that progressed to the semi-finals. To set up a fitting final, Springwell ‘A’ played Springwell ‘B’ in one semi-final and it was the same story with Hasland in the other.
Both ‘A’ teams came through their matches to meet each other in the final. Unfortunately, due to time constraints the final was abandoned but both teams will meet at the Chesterfield district finals later this month.
