Over 50 take part in Mini Soccer Festival

Six primary schools from the local area descended on Springwell Community College today for the Mini Soccer Festival. The afternoon event involved seven teams who all played each other in a friendly tournament.

The Year 3 and 4 pupils don’t often get the chance to play team football so the festival went down well with the young footballers as well as the staff.

Mrs Spendlove, of Temple Normanton Primary School, said: “It’s so nice to see them coming out and having fun.

“They’ve really enjoyed it and it’s good to see them playing games, they don’t get enough chance to do that.”

Rio, playing for¬†Staveley Primary School, said: “It’s great! I like playing in goal but I want to win!”

Alfie, from Brimington Junior School, said: “It’s really fun, I love playing football.”

Well done to all the teams from: Hollingwood Primary, Staveley Juniors, Temple Normanton, Brimington Juniors, New Whittington Community and Mary Swanwick primary schools.
